SANFORD — The Central Carolina Community College volleyball team defeated Southwest Virginia Community College, 3-0, on the road last weekend.

It marked a fifth straight win, while also securing the No. 2 seed for the upcoming National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region 10 Tournament on Saturday, Oct. 23.

Overhills grad Natalie Johnson, of Spring Lake, and Coats native Halan Raynor were newcomers on the opening day CCCC roster. The group has two returning athletes from last year’s NJCAA Region 10 Division III championship team.

CCCC puts its title defense up against Southwest Virginia at 1 p.m. in the tournament semifinals from Sandhills Community College.

Sandhills is the top seed and will host the winner of the Patrick & Henry Community College and Rockingham Community College match at 11 a.m. in the other semifinal match.

The Region 10 championship match will be played at 3 p.m.
