DUNN – Heritage Bible College’s graduation was the first in two years due to the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. Last year’s graduating class of 11 missed out on a physical graduation ceremony due to pandemic protocols, but was invited to participate with this year’s class of ten graduates.

Commencement 2021 took place in the sanctuary of Antioch Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church of Erwin on May 8. Graduates hail from Georgia and all over North Carolina.

This year nine graduates were awarded Bachelor of Religious Education degrees in pastoral ministries or biblical studies with minors in Christian counseling or discipleship and one graduate was awarded an Associate in Christian Studies degree. Degrees were awarded by Heritage Bible College President Stephen Rzonca and Academic Dean Dana Schaefer.

Rzonca was the commencement speaker. His inspirational message encouraged graduates to know what they stand for; be willing to stand up for what is right and good; and be willing to stand firm in their faith and in truth.

Graduate Gloria Thomas of Dunn received the Rev. Jean Koch Theology Award for having the highest-grade point average in all theology classes. Graduate Adrian Eugene Davis of Hendersonville received the Academic Achievement Award for having the highest-grade point average during his entire college career.

Heritage Bible College is a totally online college, so it was able to proceed through the COVID-19 year unscathed from the need for physical contact.

The Mission of Heritage Bible College is to “develop servant leaders with a Christ-centered worldview and a distinct Christian character, equipping them for committed service by providing excellent biblical, academic, and practical training.”
