DUNN — The Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Men’s Golf Championship is officially underway following the opening ceremony at Chicora Golf Club Thursday morning.

It signals Chicora’s first time hosting the CIAA title event since the Dunn course opened in 1952.

Fayetteville State University, serving as hosts for the eight-team field, ranks third overall with a total score of 305 after Round 1 behind Livingstone College (290) and Virginia Union (297).

Brandon Jones led FSU with a 1-over 72 on the par 71 design, good enough for fourth on the individual leaderboard, while teammate Zack Martin (+2) sits just behind him in fifth place.

Livingstone's Xavier Proctor and Virginia Union's Alkin Barkley both carded a 69 and are tied atop the board for medalist, while Proctor's teammate Joel Basalaine (70) rounds out the top five with a third-place finish in the opening round.

The entire leaderboard, along with stats from the round, can be found here

Friday morning marks the final round with spectators allowed in for free.
