SANFORD — The Central Carolina Community College cross country program is looking forward to the 2021 season – after the 2020 campaign was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Richard Briggs, a former assistant coach at Fayetteville State University, serves as the CCCC cross country coach.

"I am very excited about this season. We have a group that loves to run. As long as we are passionate about what we do, everything will fall into place,” Briggs said.

Former Harnett Central runner Kimberly Vasquez represents local area athletes on the team, entering her first year at the school. She's joined on the women's side by Lee County's Bersai Perez and Pinecrest's Angelika Adriano, along with Karlee Becker and Charmaine Robison from Lumberton.

Members of the CCCC men’s cross country team are: Kevin Cole, Colby Day, Eddy Dominguez, Kyle Howarth, Britt Lehman and Gabriel Lenz.

“It’s exciting to know with hard work and dedication that we have a big season ahead of us,” said Briggs.
