The Education Committee of the Dunn Area Chamber of Commerce presented Golden Apple Awards for April.
DUNN — The Education Committee of the Dunn Area Chamber of Commerce presented Golden Apple Awards for April to Maria Sturdivant-Reese, a first-grade teacher at Harnett Primary School, and Staci Smith, a special education teacher at Dunn Middle School.
Dunn Chamber Executive Vice President Heather Lawson and Harnett Primary School Principal Calvetta Dunkins made the presentation to Sturdivant-Reese.
She was nominated by the parent of student Isaias Cordero O’Campo. The nomination stated, “She is a good teacher and deserves the award for all the hard work she does at the school with the students.”
Lawson along with Dunn Middle Principal Megan West and Assistant Principal Kimberly Davis presented the award to Smith.
She was nominated by co-worker Leah Dixon. The nomination stated, “Staci is an awesome co-worker! She is always willing to help others and is a joy to be around. I am thankful that we are able to work together!”
The Golden Apple Award is a chamber program to help recognize the efforts of standout teachers in the Dunn area schools.
Administrators, teachers, counselors, parents and students are encouraged to nominate an outstanding teacher currently teaching full time at a Dunn area public or private school, which is an active member of the Dunn Area Chamber of Commerce.
