ANGIER — The first of three meetings that will help guide the development of the future Angier Town Park's draft master plan is set for Thursday.
Public attendance and input are encouraged to help identify program needs and develop a community vision for the park's development, which is to be located on the north shore of the Black River and Guys Pond, between Campbell Road to the west and Guy Road to the east.
The community meetings will focus on illustrating park development constraints and opportunities based on environmental and site analysis and provide residents an opportunity to express their recreational needs, preferences, and aspirations.
The master plan will reflect community input in addition to needs identified by the Angier Parks and Recreation Department.
Thursday's meeting is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. in the Town Board Room located at 28 N. Raleigh St. The next two sessions are set for Feb. 17 and March 24.
Residents are also encouraged to fill out a survey ahead of the meetings.
Registration for winter basketball and cheerleading at Angier Parks and Recreation is open now through Friday.
Hoops leagues are available for 7-and-under coed as well as separate divisions for 10u and 12u boys and girls, along with a 15u boys league.
Cheerleading is available for children ages 5 to 12.
The registration fee for in-town residents is $25, and is $50 for participants outside Angier limits. Those signing up after Friday will also pay a $10 late fee.
Registration can be completed on the town's website.
