Firefighters carry the coffin of James ‘Jamie’ Melvin Rose during a funeral service on Friday, June 11. Rose served in the fire service for 35 years and as chief of the Buies Creek Fire Department. He left behind a score of family and friends after a two year battle with esophageal cancer came to an end on June 6. Rose was laid to rest in Rose Family Cemetery in Lillington.
