Young local golfer wins boys’ state championship

Michael Snyder won the Tarheel Youth Golf Association’s TOTS State Championship at Longleaf Golf and Family Club in Pinehurst.

Michael shot a -4 round of 33 for nine holes which converted to a Stableford score of 40. Michael competed in the boys’ 10-11 age group. The TYGA is the junior golf division of the Carolina Golf Association.

Michael is a sixth-grader at Harnett Central Middle School and the son of Mike and Traci Snyder of Buies Creek. He has been a member of the iGrow Op 36 Keith Hills Junior Golf Academy since he was 6 years old and is coached by Ryan Dailey and Sam Giallombardo.

Michael aspires to be a collegiate golfer and eventually a PGA tour player.
