The Fayetteville Woodpeckers will finally get the chance to debut the brand new Segra Stadium on Thursday.

The Woodpeckers (8-4 prior to Tuesday’s game) will host the Carolina Mudcats (6-6) at 7 p.m. Thursday night for their first home game in franchise history. Tickets for opening night have already sold out, though tickets are available for the rest of the series Friday-Sunday.

The games Thursday and Friday night will be followed with a post-game fireworks show. Saturday’s promotion will be free kitchen magnets with the Woodpeckers’ schedule. And on Sunday there will be a post-game Easter egg hunt in the outfield.

Segra Stadium looks to offer one of the more unique experiences in minor league baseball, featuring a kids zone area in the outfield, as well as a rocking chair seating area and a sports bar. Healy’s, named for Healy Wholesale, a beer and wine distributor based in Fayetteville, will be open Thursday-Sunday, even when the Woodpeckers aren’t in town. The city-owned stadium will operate as a public park during the day when games aren’t going on.

The Woodpeckers will have a seven-game home stand, playing a four-game series with the Mudcats Thursday-Sunday and a three-game series with the Frederick Keys Tuesday-Thursday. On Tuesday, kids 12 and under will receive a voucher for a $2 hot dog, $2 soda and can play in the kids zone all night for $2. And the cap to the home stand will be Thirsty Thursday, where domestic beers are $3 and Pepsi products are $2, and after the game fans can enjoy live music at the bar in right field.
