On Sunday, May 26, Chelsee Alexes McKenzee Woodey and James Ingram “Jay” Martin Jr. were married at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church in Arlington, Virginia.
Rector Andrew Merrow and the Rev. Dr. Joan Martin, aunt of the groom, officiated. The bride was given in marriage by her father.
Marni Woodey Strobel, sister of the bride, served as the matron of honor, and Peyton Maddox, fraternity brother of the groom, was best man. Other attendants included Andrew Setterberg, Thomas Jones and Langley Perry.
The bride’s nephews, Dutch, Reed and Dawson Strobel, served as acolytes. Flower girl was Bella Strobel, niece of the bride.
Chelsee is the daughter of Pauline and Roy Woodey of Lexington, Kentucky. She is a graduate of Lexington’s Henry Clay High School and holds a bachelor’s degree in music performance and world politics and diplomacy from the University of Richmond. She is employed by the Kraft Heinz Company as associate director of Global Government Affairs.
Jay is the son of Linda and Jim Martin of Buies Creek. He is a graduate of Harnett Central High School and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He holds a master’s degree in Southeast Asia studies from the National University of Singapore and a law degree from the University of South Carolina. He is employed by the Federal Housing Finance Agency as a senior risk analyst.
