Wayne Avenue teacher presented Golden Apple Award

The Education Committee of the Dunn Area Chamber of Commerce presented a Golden Apple Award to Alexandria Lawrence, a fourth-grade teacher at Wayne Avenue Elementary School. Dunn Chamber Vice President of Education Hope Tyndall, and Wayne Avenue Elementary School Assistant Principal Dawn Manship made the presentation.

Lawrence was nominated by Assistant Principal Dawn Manship. The nomination stated, “It is my honor to nominate Alex Lawrence for the Dunn Chamber Golden Apple Award. Mrs. Lawrence teaches fourth grade and is a dedicated member of our Bulldog team. She has a passion for teaching and loves her students.

“Mrs. Lawrence is enthusiastic and always has a smile on her face. She is nurturing and loves reading to her students from her comfy chair. This is something her students look forward to, and just one of the reasons they love having Mrs. Lawrence as a teacher. Mrs. Lawrence is definitely a valued and appreciated member of our Wayne Avenue family, and most deserving of the Golden Apple Award.”

The Golden Apple Award is a chamber program to help recognize the efforts of standout teachers in the Dunn area schools. Administrators, teachers, counselors, parents and students are encouraged to nominate an outstanding teacher currently teaching full time at a Dunn area public or private school, which is an active member of the Dunn Area Chamber of Commerce.
