Tax Dollars Not Used
The “Tighten Budgets” comment in last week’s Sound Off [June 8] made some false assumptions about the use of Harnett County tax dollars to fund the Harnett County Public Utilities annual water quality report insert.
The comment insinuated that tax dollars were used to fund the printing of the report. Harnett County Public Utilities does not use any tax dollars to operate. The department relies entirely on revenues from water and sewer charges to fund all operations. The annual water quality report is an annual federal requirement for all water utilities. The report gives consumers a detailed look at the quality of their drinking water and updates them on any upgrades and changes that have occurred within the past year.
