The McKameys and Butler, Hughes & Hayes will be in concert at Central Baptist Church in Dunn tonight at 7.
The McKameys have been singing more than 50 years and have brought us songs like “God On the Mountain,” “Under His Feet,” “God Will Make This Trial A Blessing” and many more. They have had 24 No. 1 singles and in 1999 were honored by their record label, Horizon, for having the most No. 1 hits in the history of Southern Gospel Music. The group has been awarded several different Singing News Fan Awards through the years with Peg McKamey Bean being named Favorite Female Vocalist seven times. However, their fans say they believe the singers really are sincere about the message they present. “It’s the joy of the Lord and the strong message in the songs they hear,” Mrs. Bean says. “We try to have fresh songs and new encounters with the Lord so we can pass them along to those in need of it.”
They have just announced their retirement in 2019 so this may be one the last opportunities to see them in our region.
Butler, Hughes & Hayes has been singing together since 2006 starting out of Central Baptist Church. Doors have opened for them to sing in numerous churches, concerts and festivals singing with many of their heroes including sharing the stage with Bill Gaither and performances at the National Quartet Convention. Their latest recording, “Adopted,” features songs written by group members as well as reinventions of gospel classics. Radio singles, “Jesus is Better” and “Adopted” both charted nationally.
