Swann and Smith exchange marriage vows

Tashika Renee Swann and Michael Anthony Smith were married at 2 p.m. May 18 at Anderson Creek Christian Center, Linden. Pastor Angela E. Blue officiated.

The bride is the daughter of Mary Bell Swann of Sanford and the late Gene H. Swann. She is the granddaughter of the late William and Lula Walker Swann and the late Evans and Narcissus S. Bell. She is a 1997 graduate of Western Harnett High School and a 2010 graduate of Miller Motte College. She is employed with Duke University Hospital in Durham.

The groom is the son of Harry and Brenda Matthews of Linden. He is the grandson of the late Martha Smith and the late Edna Matthews. He is a 1996 graduate of Western Harnett High School and is employed with Carolina Precast Concrete Company in Dunn.

The bride was presented in marriage by her brother, Pastor Kenneth Swann, and her nephew, Kenston Swann.

Attending the bride as maids of honor were her sister, Sherrita Swann, and her cousin, Sechonia McKinnis. Bridesmaids were Keisha Alston, Nathalie Bell, Deborah Biggs, Nyasia Davis, Nekita Shipmon, Dorenda Townes and Octavia Wynn.

Junior bridesmaids were Avani Alston, Saniya Alston, Tamara Hayes and Kashiah Ford-Leonard.

Flower girls were Kassidy Davis and Zuri Boston.

Best man was Cedric Matthews, brother of the groom. Groomsmen were Lamarius Bell, Nakelon Bowie, Emanuel Matthews, Michael Silochan, Johnee Shipmon, Adaryl Smith and Demetrius Walker.

Junior groomsman was Zimere Swann, nephew of the bride. Ring bearer was Travis Hayes Jr.

Wedding director was Cynthia Jameson.

Musicians were Nakia Latrelle Benjamin, Marcus Blue, Joshua Farrar, Reginald McNeill and Gerald Mitchell.

A candle was lit in remembrance of the bride’s father and her grandparents, the groom’s grandmothers, and the bride’s aunts, Gertrude Bell McCormick, her godmother, and Lula Bell Chance.

The bride and groom hosted a reception at Studio 215 in Fayetteville.

Assisting at the reception were Ivy Smith, Desandra Leonard, Seirra McKinnis, Jerome McKinnis, Charlotte Excellent, Gabriel Williams, Amaya Bell, Simone Bell, Tiffany Elliott and Darryl Leathers.

A rehearsal dinner was hosted by the bride’s mother at Anderson Creek Christian Center.

A luncheon was given by the bride’s sister, Sherrita Swann, and cousin, Sechonia McKinnis, at Twisted Grape Restaurant in Cameron.

Following a honeymoon in Key West, Florida, the couple are residing in Wake County.
