A Bunnlevel woman died Tuesday night when she was hit by a car as she stood in a driveway.
According to the North Carolina Highway Patrol, Lessie Jean Hobbs, 79, of Bunnlevel was standing in a driveway next to a car on McNeill Hobbs Road shortly after 7 p.m. when she was hit by a vehicle driven by Kanesha Shaunte McLean, 27, of Bunnlevel.
Reports of the accident indicate Ms. McLean was traveling west on McNeill Hobbs Road at the time of the accident. She first went off the right side of the road before overcorrecting and then running off the left side of the road and into Ms. Hobbs and a stationary vehicle driven by Gail Wiley Hobbs, 51, also of Bunnlevel.
Lessie Jean Hobbs was pronounced dead on the scene of the accident. The other driver and passengers refused treatment.
There is no indication on reports whether Lessie Jean Hobbs is related to Gail Wiley Hobbs.
Ms. McLean faces several charges including misdemeanor death by vehicle, driving left of center and careless and reckless driving.
Alcohol is not suspected as a cause of the accident.
