Team “Nothing Special” turned in a special weekend to capture the 11th annual Dunn PAL Alumni Basketball Tournament Sunday night.
This year’s tournament began Saturday morning with several pool games between nine of the original 10 teams, with one squad forfeiting before play began. The results from those games are as follows:
The final game Saturday night and every Sunday game were all bracketed single-elimination match-ups.
In the semi-finals, Dream Team defeated Redemption 67-36 while Nothing Special beat Slept On 53-45. Finally, Nothing Special edged by Dream Team 51-49 in the championship game.
Since 2007, the PAL has hosted this yearly tournament to welcome home past students and players from the basketball program, many of whom also played for Triton at some point in high school. The revenue generated from the two-day event goes into improving the after-school portion of the PAL program.
