The Four Seasons Garden Club of Lillington met Oct. 3 at Lillington Presbyterian Church with President Faye Etheridge presiding.
Hostesses Leatrice Creech and Mary Jane Matthews had decorated the tables with different sizes and colors of pumpkins and leaves. Refreshments were served and enjoyed by all.
Club members voted to have their annual sale of plants and other items at the Sandhills Antique Farm Equipment Show at the Sandhills Farm Park on Alexander Drive in Lillington after the cancellation of Lillington’s Fall Festival due to Hurricane Florence. The plant sale will be held Saturday, Oct. 20.
A program was presented by Eleanor Spicer Rice, N.C. State University Professor of Entomology and noted author. She has written books about common ants as well as fire ants. Club members learned there are at least 250 kinds of ants in North Carolina and even one that is an enemy of fire ants. Members all agreed that they wanted one of those ants!
Four Season Garden Club’s next meeting will be Nov. 7, when they will learn that “Everyone Can Tie A Bow.”
