New restaurant opens at Spivey’s Corner

Country cooking seven days a week

The long-anticipated opening of a new dining opportunity in Spivey’s Corner has now arrived with the official grand opening of Annabella’s coming Saturday.

Though they will officially opening this weekend, Annabella Luna and her sister, Celia, took their places behind the grill for the first time Thursday, with a limited number of people tasting what citizens from throughout the area will now enjoy.

A large menu of all types of country cooking is now available to the public. Three meals a day are served at Luna’s. Lunch specials will be available each day.

The restaurant is named after Annabella Luna who is well known as a cook in the area. She has 30 years experience in the culinary industry including stops at Anna Margaret’s in Dunn, J&J restaurant in Meadow and Brock’s Grill in Spivey’s Corner.

She said opening her own restaurant is a dream come true.

“I love to cook and I wanted to have a place the public can enjoy that has lower prices,” Ms. Luna said. “That is what people want. I think is something that is not here.”

She will work alongside the person she said keeps her going.

“My sister supports me, she is my helper,” Ms. Luna said.

The menu is filled with country classic foods. Some breakfast offerings will include an assortment of biscuits and breakfast sandwiches, sampler platters, eggs, bacon, hot cakes, waffles and other items. The lunch and dinner menu will include favorites like burgers, assorted sandwiches and different meals.

There are different featured items each day of the week that will come along with assorted side items. Fried chicken will be featured on the menu throughout the week.

Saturday will be a special day, with Mexican food featured and Sunday will be family meal day.

In the immediate future, Ms. Luna, a native of Mexico, and her sister will be the primary cooks at the seven-day-a-week business. They hope to train another cook to help in the future.

The business owner was excited as she worked at the business Thursday and expects big crowds over the weekend. More than 1,000 people have liked the restaurant’s Facebook page as of Thursday afternoon.

“I think we will have a lot of people,” Ms. Luna said. “A lot of people have been talking about it. We have a open door for our neighbors and we want to welcome everyone to come.”

Annabella’s operates in a new building on the east side of the Spivey’s Corner Highway, which is the same road as U.S. 421. The hours of operation of the restaurant are Monday through Saturday from 5:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m.
