Harnett Primary School has formed new boys and girls clubs for students called Gentlemen of Distinction and Harnett Primary Gems.
Gentlemen of Distinction was formed to teach boys to separate themselves, stand out and focus on the four A’s — academics, attitude, appearance and attendance. The process begins by capturing these young men to help them see themselves differently, and in turn, the world will perceive them differently.
The club is geared toward increasing student engagement and motivation through career building, role models, community service and male-friendly activities.
Members of the Gentlemen of Distinction Club meet weekly and dress for success. They participate in special programs at Harnett Primary, hear from guest speakers and learn valuable skills, such as tying a tie and public speaking.
Harnett Primary Gems was formed to teach girls how to develop leadership skills necessary and to make a positive difference in the lives of these girls. It is fun with a purpose and boosts academic success, teaching girls to be great, do good and make healthy choices.
Making the program entertaining and interactive, program leaders can impart valuable life skills while still having a good time. The girls develop a positive self-identity and values that enable them to be responsible citizens. Under the enthusiastic guidance of the professional staff and guests speakers, members are becoming the community leaders of the future.
The Harnett Primary clubs are constantly evolving to meet the needs of its members, so each club has a unique schedule of programs.
