Dixie Youth Baseball recently presented 14 $2,000 scholarships to high school seniors in North Carolina and 100 overall in 11 states. Carson Calcutt of Midway High School was presented a scholarship at Midway’s Senior Awards Night. Carson played baseball in the Dunn Dixie Youth program.
“I am really excited that Carson won this scholarship because he is a great young man and I had the pleasure of watching him grow up,” Jay Hardison, District 11 director of North Carolina Dixie Youth Baseball, said. “I coached Carson along with his dad for a few years in Dunn and we had a great time. He has a great family that I have known for many years. Carson is very deserving of this scholarship, which is based on merit and need, not ability on the baseball field.”
“I urge all of next year’s seniors, from all local high schools, who have been on a Dixie Youth roster, if for only one season, to apply for a scholarship,” Hardison said. “Being on a regular season roster is the only requirement to apply.”
