Nearly 1,000 students earned degrees from the University of North Georgia during fall 2019, including Michael Norton of Angier, who graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies. He is the son of Peter R. and Atlanta R. Norton.
In addressing the graduates in one of the two University of North Georgia commencement ceremonies, University System of Georgia Board of Regents chair-elect Sachin Shailendra encouraged graduates to engage, work hard and never quit and reminded them of the immeasurable power of education.
Norton was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the Army Infantry.
He made the fall 2019 Dean’s List for achieving at least a 3.5 grade point average, carrying 12 or more credit hours in one semester and having no grade lower than B.
