Medicine safety and safe drug disposal session

Healthy Harnett provided a Medicine Safety Session at the Erwin Senior Center located at 110 W. F St. to promote medicine safety among Harnett County seniors were encouraged to gather up their prescription and over-the-counter medicines and bring them to the session to receive a free medication review. The Campbell University College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences staff and students were on site to provide the medication reviews.

The program also featured access to safe drug disposal. The purpose of this part of the program was to dispose of unused and unwanted medications in an environmentally-safe way. Safe drug disposal not only avoids the possible hazards of improper disposal, but also eliminates medicine cabinet clutter and helps to reduces risks caused by having duplicate or no-longer needed medications.
