Area Christmas events will continue through the holidays, so mark your calendars. Here are some events to remember:

  • Dec. 6: Benson’s Christmas on Main will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, Dec. 6. The tree lighting will be at 6 p.m. and the parade will start at 6:45 p.m. Entertainment will follow the parade.

    The annual holiday event will feature musical performances, a parade with Santa arriving on the Benson fire truck, entertainment, vendors and Christmas shopping along Main Street.

  • Dec. 7: Newton Grove’s annual Christmas parade will be held Saturday, Dec. 7, at 10 a.m.
  • Dec. 7: The Dunn Christmas Parade is set for Saturday, Dec. 7 at 2 p.m. running down Broad Street from General Lee Avenue to city hall in Downtown Dunn. Parade officials expect five high school bands, the Sudan Racers, Animated Animals, Dunn Clowns and Sudan Roadsters, dance groups, beauty queens, floats, antique and show cars, and much more. Of course, Santa Claus will be there to finish the parade and greet all the boys and girls along the way.
  • Dec. 7: The annual Angier Christmas Parade along Broad Street, featuring floats, bands, clowns, music, dancers, trains, firetrucks, Santa and more, will start at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 7. For more information, call 919-639-2500 or visit angierchamber.org.
  • Dec. 7: Angier’s second annual Christmas Vendor Fair will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 7, at Depot Square, R.H. Ellington Grounds. For more information, contact the Angier Chamber of Commerce at 919-639-2500 or visit angierchamber.org.
  • Dec. 7: The Four Oaks Christmas parade will be held on Saturday, Dec. 7. This is event, featuring Santa, candy, music, food and a kids’ zone, will be held on Main Street beginning at 10 a.m. The parade will start at 11 a.m. Children will be able to visit with Santa immediately following the parade.   • Dec. 7: The town of Wade will hold its annual tree lighting ceremony at 5:30 p.m. Dec. 7 at Wade Community Park, located at 4060 Church St. The event will include a performance by the Mac Williams Middle School Band. Santa will arrive by fire truck courtesy of the Wade Community Fire Department. He will be in the Clayton (Sam) House Community Center visiting with children and families. There will be refreshments of hot cocoa, hot cider, cookies and doughnuts available.
  • Dec. 12: Angier’s Christmas on the Square, from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Dec. 12 in Depot Square is a community event hosted by the Angier Chamber of Commerce. It will include a tree lighting, hay rides, crafts for the children, carolers, music, live nativity scenes, refreshments and visits with Santa. For more information, call 919-639-2500.
  • Dec. 14: Lillington’s annual Christmas Festivities and Parade will be held from 4 until 9 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 14, in downtown Lillington. The parade will be at 7 p.m. For more information or a parade application, contact the Lillington Area Chamber of Commerce at 910-893-3751.
  • Dec. 21: The sixth annual Buies Creek Christmas Parade and Community Gathering will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 21. The organizers are looking for participants, sponsors and donations. The parade has a no-entry fee. This year the parade will honor the living legends of Buies Creek who are 80 and older. Anyone 80 or older or who know someone who is, you are asked to contact the Friends of the Buies Creek Community on Facebook or email debhstephenson@gmail.com, tsferrell85@yahoo.com or spickett@yahoo.com.

    A drawing for door prizes has been added this year during the Community Gathering after the parade at the Buies Creek Fire Department. You must be present to win.
