Man injured in shooting

One man suffered non life-threatening injuries in a shooting in the southwestern part of Harnett County Monday afternoon.

John Shaw, 54, of Bethel Baptist Road in Linden told officers he was sitting in his vehicle at Stewart’s Stop & Shop on Elliott Bridge Road when he said he became involved in an altercation with Darryl O’Quinn, 57, of Wire Road in Bunnlevel.

Mr. Shaw said Mr. O’Quinn pointed a gun at him and then fired the weapon.

Mr. Shaw received a superficial, non life-threatening wound to his head as a result of the shooting.

The Harnett County Sheriff’s Office charged Mr. O’Quinn with discharging a weapon into an occupied property and assault with a deadly weapon.

Mr. O’Quinn was arrested after his vehicle was stopped on Overhills Road less than an hour after the shooting.

Mr. O’Quinn posted a $25,000 secured bond and was released from the Harnett County Jail.
