A Broadway man is facing multiple charges including murder and arson after he allegedly killed his mother’s husband.

According to the Harnett County Sheriff’s Office, 34-year-old Jacob Lee Killinger, of Cameron was arrested and charged with one count of murder, one count of attempted murder and two counts of first degree arson. Killinger is accused of deliberately setting fire to the home his mother shared with the victim, her 57-year-old husband Anthony Mark Wood.

Around 12:30 a.m. Thursday morning, deputies, fire and rescue units were called to a house located at 12770, North Carolina Highway 27 by the owner Wanda Wood. When responders arrived the residence was fully engulfed in fire. Wood was found inside the residence and died as a result of the fire.

According to a press release from the Sheriff’s Office, Killinger was taken into custody after an investigation by Sheriff’s Office Detectives and the Harnett County Fire Marshall’s Office determined the fire was intentionally set.

Killinger was placed in the Harnett County Detention Center without bond.
