Johnston County Public Schools Fire Science Program .The Fire Science Program began in the spring of 2016 with a application process being established and students recruited from all middle schools and high schools. Capt. Michael Nixon, center, was hired as the instructor in the 2017-2018 school year. The program is a joint effort with the local fire departments, N.C. Department of Public Instruction and Johnston County Public Schools. A pathway to a Fire Science Associates Degree at Johnston Community College ( JCC) is available to juniors and seniors through Career and College Promise (CCP).
