Harnett Primary School in Dunn held Build a Reading Buddy Night on March 28. The Harnett Primary community enjoyed a night of learning with family and friends. There were more than 250 individuals in attendance.
More than 15 sessions of varied topics were offered to enjoy. Sessions varied in topic including STEM, math, reading, technology and square dancing.
Harnett Primary partnered with the Parent Teacher Organization and business partners to present the Gliding Eagle Book Bingo. This new reading initiative challenges students to complete a bingo card and win a book of their choice out of converted Daily Record newspaper stands.
The Gliding Eagle Book Bingo is intended to enhance the future educational endeavors of students. The school performed an official ribbon cutting with the top winners selecting books. The winners included Devion McLean, Liam McKendall, Elena Reed and Crystal Reed.
Harnett Primary partnered with the Dunn Public Library and the North Carolina State Employees’ Credit Union to offer community information sessions. Each student who attended three sessions were awarded two free books and permitted to build their own plush Eagle Reading Buddy sponsored by the HPS PTO.
“We want to thank all students, parents, and community stakeholders that participated in this successful event,” said Carolyn Smith, technology facilitator at Harnett Primary School.
