Grocery pickup will soon be available at local Walmart

Grocery shoppers will have a new way to get needed supplies and food necessities by the late summer thanks to a new service offered by the local Walmart.

The Dunn-Erwin Walmart on Jackson Boulevard will add grocery pickup at the store in August according to a company representative at the local store.

Shoppers will be able to order groceries through the store’s online site. They can then pick up the groceries at the local store without having to exit their vehicles. Bags are loaded by personal grocery assistants.

Large displays both inside and outside the local Walmart now advertise that the service is coming soon.

The grocery pickup is not available at all Walmart locations. In the local area, grocery pickup is offered in Holly Springs, Clayton, Spring Lake and Fayetteville.

Walmart started the grocery delivery service at other locations in 2013. The program has expanded to more than 1,000 locations nationwide.
