First Woman Elected As Elder Emeritus Honored

Virginia Marshall was honored by the membership

of Hood Memorial Christian Church on Mother's

Day as the first woman elected as elder emeritus. It was reported in a 1987 edition of The Daily Record that Mrs. Marshall had been the first woman elected as elder and board chair of Hood Memorial and was embarking on a two-year commitment as moderator of the Disciples of Christ of N.C.
