Erwin UM to hold Share the Warmth Coat Collection

Erwin United Methodist Church will conduct its 2019 “Share the Warmth” Coat Collection Project. Gently used coats and other winter wear items of all sizes for men, women and especially children will be collected, cleaned, and given away free to insure everyone stays warm this winter.

Coats will be collected throughout the months of September and October, and will be given away at the Church’s Family Life Center on Saturday, Nov. 2, and Saturday, Nov. 9, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Coats may be dropped off at Erwin United Methodist Church, 600 Denim Drive, or at the church’s tent during Denim Days on Saturday, Oct. 5. A collection bin has also been placed at Erwin Elementary School at Gentry, located at 114 Porter Drive, Erwin. Clothes hangers are welcome, too.

The Rev. Don Mitchell, Erwin United Methodist pastor, said, “Community members are encouraged to clean out their closets and donate any gently used coats and winter wear for children and adults in need in our community. Your help in sharing the warmth this winter is deeply appreciated.”
