Erwin Chamber hires new administrator

Chris Baucom, a recent graduate of East Carolina University with a bachelor’s degree in interpersonal/organizational communications, has been named administrator at the Erwin Area Chamber of Commerce.

Baucom has lived in the Benson area for nearly 20 years. Formerly a commercial plumber, he decided to go back to school and pursue another career path following an ATV crash on March 4, 2006.

“That accident left me wheelchair bound and unable to return to the construction field, so I decided to attend college, obtain a degree, and return to the working world and continue to support my family,” he said.

Baucom has been married to his wife, Jamie, for 14 years. He has three children and one grandchild.

Since becoming administrator, he has been busy working with chamber board members planning Blue Jean Boogie concert events. He also has a few other ideas for the town“I would like to promote growth within Erwin and offer support for the community through my position as administrator,” Baucom said. “I would also like to introduce some new events to bring the community together and build our town up to greater heights.”
