The Education Committee of the Dunn Area Chamber of Commerce presented a Golden Apple Award to Paula Pope, a seventh-grade math teacher at Dunn Middle School. Dunn Chamber Vice President of Education Hope Tyndall, Dunn Middle School Principal Dr. Janet Doffermyre along with Dunn Middle School Assistant Principal Megan West made the presentation.
Paula Pope was nominated anonymously by a colleague.
The nomination stated, “Mrs. Pope is willing to do whatever it takes for DMS to be successful. You never see her sitting idle, she is always brainstorming, planning or teaching. She is one that is eager to be part of anything that our school has to offer.
“In the halls, she is always smiling and encouraging both students and fellow teachers. Her energy in the building is contagious. Aside from being an awesome co-worker, she is very compassionate about the students she teaches. It is never a surprise to see her paying for students to attend special events, tutoring, purchasing school supplies, or offering to provide students with clothing.
“She will go above and beyond to provide students what they need to be successful academically as well as socially. Mrs. Pope is a huge asset to our school.”
The Golden Apple Award is a chamber program to help recognize the efforts of standout teachers in our Dunn Area schools. Administrators, teachers, counselors, parents and students are encouraged to nominate an outstanding teacher currently teaching full time at a Dunn area public or private school, which is an active member of the Dunn Area Chamber of Commerce.
