A Harnett County Sheriff’s deputy was uninjured after losing control of his squad car in a recent one-car crash near Dunn.
Maj. Aaron Meredith, with the Harnett County Sheriff’s Office, said Deputy Matt Perez was returning to the scene of a domestic call he had previously responded to when he lost control of his vehicle.
“He was driving in the 5600 block of Fairground Road when his vehicle lost traction with the roadway,” Meredith said. “His car then left the roadway.”
Perez’s car hit a mailbox before coming to rest on a nearby road, according to witnesses.
The incident happened near the intersection of Fairground Road and Three Bridge Road.
The North Carolina Highway Patrol investigated the incident. No charges were filed against Perez.
Meredith said there was extensive damage to the deputy’s patrol vehicle.
