Janice Ward Lockamy, 73, of Dunn died Sunday evening, Aug. 5, 2018, at Harnett Woods Nursing & Rehab. She was born in Sampson County on Oct. 3, 1944, to the late Claxton James and Ellen Harrell King. She was preceded in death by husband, James Edward Ward Sr.; brothers, James Bryant King, Dwight King and Danny King; and sister, Virgil King Bourdeaux.
She was a member of Spring Branch Baptist Church. Mrs. Lockamy was a private caregiver and had formerly worked at Kim’s BBQ and ABC Store in Dunn.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Hood Memorial Christian Church with the Revs. Jason Williams and Joanie Williams officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends at 2 p.m., one hour prior to the service.
Survivors include her sons, James Edward Ward II and wife Judy of Camp Hill, Pa., Kenneth Wayne Ward and wife Tammy of Benson, Claxton Harold Ward and wife Natasha of Salemburg; brother, Jim King of Oak Ridge; sisters, Melba King Dail of Goldsboro and Peggy King Myatt of Clayton; grandchildren, James Matthew Ward and wife Neenah of Four Oaks, Brad Lee Ward and wife Holly of Eastover, Kyle Garrett Ward of Charlotte, Cameron Troy Ward of Camp Hill, Pa., Angela Ward Kennedy of Benson, Trevor Lane Ward of Coats, and Olivia Ward and Brianna Ward of Salemburg; and great-grandchildren, Nathan Lee Ward, Skylar Grace Kennedy, James Clinton Ward and Layla Avery Kennedy.
