Creary, Myles earn Big South weekly honors

CHARLOTTE — Campbell track and field’s Dameon Creary and Hailey Huston Myles have both earned weekly Big South honors after their performances in the field at the Darius Dixon Memorial Invite.

Creary set his second-best long jump mark of the season, capturing first-place in the event. The junior cleared 7.21m (23’ 8”) in the event, a whole 0.20 meters ahead of Charlotte’s Dandrell Utley in second.

Creary currently holds the second-best mark in the Big South this season at 7.37m (24’ 2.25”) set at the Carolina Challenge. Last season Creary took first at the Big South Indoor Track & Field Championships with a personal-best mark of 7.61m (24’ 11.75”)

Myles picked up her first Big South award after setting the best triple jump mark in the Big South this season with a 12.44m (40’ 9.75”) mark this past weekend.

Her mark ranks second all-time in Campbell history and tied for the fifth-best mark all-time in Big South history.

This is the first Big South weekly award for Myles, a junior transfer from Pima Community College, and the second for Creary in his career. Overall, this is the sixth and seventh weekly award for Campbell this season.

Campbell track & field will head to the Big South Indoor Track & Field Championships on Feb. 28-29 in Blacksburg, Virginia.
