The Coats-Erwin offense provided plenty of firepower to back a solid pitching performance by Jamari Thompson in taking a 15-3 win over Highland in Tuesday’s season finale.

Coats-Erwin finishes its season with a record of 9-3. Including last year’s 10-2 record, the Falcon 8th graders finish their middle school career with an overall record of 19-5.

Highland concludes its season with a 4-8 record.

Thompson allowed only one earned-run, striking out six in four innings of work. Braxton Davis pitched a scoreless fifth inning in relief.

Tucker Brown had 3 hits to lead the Falcons offensively. Having two hits each were Hunter Thompson, Gavin Klein, Jaleel White, and Braxton Davis. Davis hit a triple while Brown, Klein, and Thompson added doubles. Adding one hit apiece were Cristian Barajas, Zachary Roberson, Jamari Thompson and Zamonte McDougald.

Dunn and Harnett Central finish the season 10-2 as co-champions in the Harnett County Middle Schools Conference. Although Harnett Central beat Dunn twice, the conference recognizes them as co-champs.

Harnett Central beat Dunn twice and Dunn beat Coats-Erwin twice. Had Coats-Erwin not lost 8-7 to Western Harnett, it would have been a three-way tie atop the standings.
