‘Light of the

World’ cantata

The Adult Christmas Choir of Cape Fear Presbyterian Church will present the cantata “Light of the World” Sunday at 3 p.m. Seasonal prelude music begins at 2:40 p.m.

Gospel sing Saturday

The first Saturday night sing will be held this Saturday at 6 p.m. at Free Gospel Community Chapel Church. There will be four groups featured. The pastor is Ada Cavenaugh.

David Phelps to present ‘It Must Be Christmas’ tour

Multi-Dove and Grammy Award-winning recording artist David Phelps will be featured in Fayetteville Saturday at Village Baptist Church, 906 S McPherson Church Road. This Christmas concert event will be just one stop on the “It Must Be Christmas” 20th anniversary tour. This music evening begins at 7 p.m.

Mr. Phelps has performed at numerous prestigious venues across the globe, including the White House, New York’s Carnegie Hall and the Sydney Opera House in Australia.

The Browders to present Christmas concert

Piney Grove Chapel Baptist Church will host an evening of gospel music on Sunday at 6 p.m., as multi-award winning musical family The Browders will be featured during a special Christmas musical service. This evening with The Browders will feature songs from their award-winning “Merry Christmas” recording. They will also share timeless Christmas classics like “Joy To The World,” “Mary Wrapped A Present,” “Children Go Where I Send Thee” and “Who Do You Think.”

Benefit sing Saturday

There will be a triple family benefit sing Saturday at Sansom Community Church, 2896 Arrowhead Road, Dunn. The benefit is for the following families: Ellen Whittington, Anne Turlington and Rayden Bradley.

Doors open at 5 p.m. There will be light refreshments and a silent auction from 5 to 6 p.m. and the gospel sing from 6 to 8 p.m. Featured will be The Crusaders, The Gregorys, Won 4 Christ and Palmetto Street Praise.

Proceeds will be split between the three families.

guest speaker

Pastor Dwight Morrison will be the guest speaker Sunday at McNeil Memorial Church. Services begins at 11:15 a.m. The public is invited.

Gospel concert to help hurricane victims

A gospel concert is planned for Sunday to benefit victims of hurricanes in North Carolina. The concert will be held at the Stewart Theatre, 114 N. Wilson Ave., Dunn. The concert is titled “An Evening of Praise, Worship and Fundraising for Relief of Hurricane Victims” and presented by VMS Home Oxygen. The concert starts at 3 p.m. Cost is $15 in advance and $25 at the door. Performing will be The Gospel Keynotes featuring Jeffrey Newberry, The Master Keys of Angier, The Crusaders of N.C. and soloist Towanda McDougal Witherspoon. Hanging of the Greens at Unity AC

Unity Advent Christian Church, located on Unity Church Road, Four Oaks, will host the Hanging of the Greens Sunday at 7 p.m. Refreshments will be served after the program. The pastor, the Rev. Jason Hudson, invites everyone to come and begin the Christmas season.

Community Christmas tree lighting

Blackman’s Grove Baptist Church will present a Community Christmas tree lighting Sunday at 5 p.m. They will have cocoa, coffee and apple cider. ‘100 Men in

Black’ program

On Sunday at 3 p.m., the deacons will sponsor a “100 Men in Black” program. All men and boys are asked to join in to help make “100.” The speaker will be Elder Maurice McLaughlin, pastor of Malloy Grove FWB Church.

The host pastor is Elder Laeulia Lisane and the church is located at 8709 Green Path Road, Dunn.

Movie, Craft Night set

Begin your Christmas countdown with a free Movie and Craft Night Saturday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Erwin Church of God Family Life Center, 109 W. C St. Featured will be the movie “A Charlie Brown Christmas.” There will also be cookies, crafts, cocoa and popcorn. It is open to the community. They will also collect monetary donations to give to families in need.

Brooker to preach initial sermon

Mother Ivy K. Brooker will preach her initial sermon Sunday at 3 p.m. at Mingo Hill OFWB Church.

Community breakfast at Mingo Baptist

Mingo Baptist Church will host a community breakfast Saturday from 6 until 10 a.m. Donations will be accepted and will go to the church building fund.

Mt. Pisgah Harnett OFWB Church will celebrate Musician Appreciation Sunday in honor of minister of music Roy Lee Harris, Elder Jamal Johnson, Kevin Thurman, Christopher McNeill, Jacquil Land, Quanika McMillian, Claude Ferguson and Jalil Cates. The program will be held this Sunday at 11 a.m. The guest preacher will be Elder Reginald S. Hinton Jr. of St. Mary’s FWB Church, Apex.

Bishop Barnes will speak Sunday at 11 a.m. at Faith Mission Church. At 3 p.m., Pastor Samuel McKoy of New Covenant Holy Church will fellowship with Faith Mission.

God’s House of

Prayer news

A joy service will be held tonight at 7:30 at God’s House of Prayer with singing and worshiping. The elder ministerial preachers will bring the word of God. Sunday morning’s worship service will begin at 11 which is the Men’s Day service. All of the church’s men will conduct the service. The preacher will be Chief Apostle Rosa DeGraffenried. All music will be rendered by the GHOP Choir.

Free Will Bethel Church will host Family and Friends Day on Sunday at 11 a.m. The guest speaker will be Elder Walser from Lillington Grove. Music will be furnished by the Free Will Bethel band. Free Will Bethel Church will host its annual musician appreciation program on Dec. 9 at 3 p.m. The McLean Sisters will be the special guest as well as Elder Richard Downy and family of Sanford. Evangelist Mary White of Fayetteville will be in attendance as well as the Riverside Community Choir and more.
