Shady Grove Announces ‘Shipwrecked’ VBS

Vacation Bible School of Shady Grove Church begins Sunday at 5:30 p.m. with a supper in the fellowship hall. The program begins at 6:15. VBS will sail on from Aug. 5-9. Join the crew in saving the ship and passengers. All are welcome to be on the crew. Join up and find out how the crew does it.

Community Revival, Concert At Lillington Baptist

The Lumber River Quartet will present a concert of gospel music Saturday at 5 p.m. at Lillington Baptist Church, located at 210 W. Lofton St., in the church sanctuary. The concert will be free with no collection taken. The church doors will open at 4:30 p.m. and all are welcome to attend.

The Lumber River Quartet is a well-known southern gospel ministry that travels and performs all across the United States and Canada. The members have appeared on TV, radio and are national recording artists. The concert will be followed by old-time congregational singing of favorite gospel hymns. Mike Cummings, evangelist from Lumberton, will provide the message for the evening.

Homecoming, Revival At Red Hill MB

Red Hill Missionary Baptist Church, 1160 Red Hill Road, Cameron, will host its annual homecoming celebration Sunday at 11 a.m. with Bishop Tavaris La Keith Johnson Sr. as the morning speaker and at 3 p.m. with Pastor Jakeem Bowman from Reedy Branch Missionary Baptist Church, Clio, S.C., as the afternoon speaker. Lunch will be served at 1 p.m. All are welcome (free and open to the public).

The annual revival service will be held Aug. 6-8 at 7:30 nightly. Bishop James Adam Ledbetter III, senior pastor of Old Smith Grove View Baptist Church, moderator of Guiding Light Missionary Baptist Association, and JAL3 Ministries, Lexington, will be the keynote speaker nightly.

Davis Chapel To Hold Revival, Homecoming

“Don’t Push Me, Cause I’m Close To The Edge” revival will be held Aug. 8-10 at Davis Chapel AME Zion Church, 120 Horseshoe Bend Road, Linden. The Praise Team begins at 7 p.m. and the service starts at 7:30. Guest speakers are the Rev. Broadwyn Roberts, Aug. 8; Elder Hanna Broome of Dunn/Lillington District, Aug. 9; and the Rev. Karen Corbin, Aug. 10.

Davis Chapel AME Zion Church invites you to its annual Homecoming Celebration Day on Aug. 12. The guest speakers will be Elder Anthony Davis of Raleigh District at 11 a.m.; and the Rev. Wadell Goodman at 3 p.m. Dinner will be served.

Back-To-School Slam Dunking Event

Youth are invited to a Back-To-School Slam Dunking event Saturday at Smith Chapel OFWB Church, 6055 U.S. 701 South, Four Oaks. Breakfast and registration will be from 8:30 to 8:50 a.m. Sessions will be from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. There will be fun, food, facts and gifts.

St. James Church To Hold Yard Sale

St. James Disciples Church will hold a yard sale Saturday from 7 a.m. until. The church is located at 320 W. Harnett St., Benson. The pastor is Dr. Montorom Williams.

VBS Starts Today

First Baptist Church of Erwin will hold its Vacation Bible School today from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon. The theme is “Polar Blast, Where Jesus’ Love is Cool.” There will be classes for children and adults. Pizza will be served today and hot dogs with all the fixings on Saturday for lunch.

Gospel Choir Anniversary

The Gospel Choir of Mt. Olive FWB Church, Wade, will celebrate its anniversary Sunday at 3 p.m. The host pastor is Bishop John E. McDowell Jr.

VBS At New Zealand Church

Vacation Bible School will be held at New Zealand Church on Aug. 11 from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. A light breakfast will be at 9 a.m. and a pizza lunch at 1 p.m. The theme is “Jesus is my Anchor.” There will be Bible lessons, music class, crafts and snowballs. There will also be a water slide from 3 to 5 p.m. Bring shorts and a T-shirt.

The church is located in the Meadow community at 5312 Meadowbrook Road.

Bingo Night Aug. 11

Exit 312 Youth of Erwin Church of God will present Bingo Night on Aug. 11 from 5 to 8 p.m. in the gym. Bingo cards are one for $3 or two for $5. Food items that will be on sale include hot dogs, chips, drinks, popcorn and desserts.

Warren Chapel To Hold Fall Revival

Warren Chapel FWB Church will hold its annual fall revival Aug. 7-9 at 7 nightly. The speakers for the week will be Elder Garry Gainey, Restoration Family Church, Tuesday; Pastor Jerry Shaw, Sandy Grove FWB Church, Wednesday; and Elder Timothy Thomas, Dunn Chapel FWB Church, Thursday. A number of choirs are scheduled to render music.

One-Night Revival Aug. 10

On Aug. 10, New Beginning Love Fellowship Ministries will hold a one-night revival at Coats Senior Citizen Center, 214 Park Lane. Service time is 7:30 p.m. The guests will be Pastor Williams and Warren Chapel Church in Dunn.

Mercy’s Cross In Concert Sunday

Piney Grove Chapel Baptist Church is hosting its Super Sunday Nights Series. Services will be held throughout the summer beginning at 6 p.m. The Super Sunday Nights Series will feature many of the nation and region’s most talented singers, musicians and quartets. The trio Mercy’s Cross will kick off the month of August, as they will be featured this Sunday. The brother/sister musical team of Tate & Martheiah will appear on Aug. 12.
