Harnett Primary School, 800 W. Harnett St., Dunn, will hold its first College and Career Fair from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Friday, May 17, to introduce students to a variety of career opportunities in the community.
A morning session will be held from 9 to 11:30 for kindergarten and first grade students and an afternoon session from 12:30 to 2:30 for students in second and third grades.
Organizers of the event are looking for people in the community to share their knowledge and information about their companies and careers. The event will be held in the school’s gym and participants will be given an area to set up their display tables beginning at 8 a.m. You may bring company banners and giveaways for the students such as relevant information about your career, candy, visuals or trinkets.
Be prepared to answer such questions as: Tell me about your career and how did you get into your career. What does a typical work day look like? What was your educational path to your career? What subjects were your favorite in school? What your company does or make? How students can become a success in your career.
People in the community who are interested in sharing their occupation or career with students may contact the school’s counseling department to fill out a form.
