Cape Fear ‘A’ union news


Youth Ministry

The Cape Fear “A” Conference Youth Ministry convened March 29. The emcee for the evening was Logan Melton. Music was rendered by the CFA Conference Youth Choir.

Scripture was read by Mahogany McKoy. Vhania McKoy gave the prayer and Trinity Bulla welcomed everyone. A poem was read by Erika Collazo. Mikyia Robinson gave her version of “Frozen.”

Candace Harvey was the speaker. Elder Larry Melvin did the alter call and prayer with the youth. The union secretaries gave the announcements.

First lady Sarah Baker gave the Christian education update. She asked everyone to come out and support “Unity Day” on April 13 at 11 a.m. at the Cape Fear Headquarters in Erwin.

Remarks were given by the chairman, Elizabeth King, Pamela Haire, CFCA youth liaison, and Bishop J.E. McDowell Sr. Logan Melton gave the benediction.

Raleigh District Union

The Raleigh District Union convened at McKoy’s Chapel FWB Church, Coats, on March 30. Host pastor is Elder James Baker.

For the March 30 service, Dr. Morris Godwin gave the call to worship. The Raleigh District Mass Choir rendered the music. Affirmation of faith was led by Dr. Godwin and scripture was read by Eldress Hattie Lyons. Eldress Monica Elliott led in prayer.

Dr. Godwin introduced the speaker, Dr. Edith Pue. Her topic was “Run Deeper & Reach Higher.”

Seating of the cabinet was by Dr. Godwin. Deacon Charles Burke gave a prayer of guidance. Linda Holliday read the minutes.

Dr. Thomas Washington Jr. gave his report on the General Level. Elder Arthur McAllister presided over the Union Workers’ Club. Mother Marie Jones gave the report from the Mother Board Program. Eldress Sylvia Hicks made the necrology report.

Elder Herbert Sneed gave the call to worship for the evening service. Johnston Chapel Gospel Choir rendered the music. Eldress Ella Williams read scripture and Minister Denise Jones led in prayer.

Elder Herbert Sneed introduced the speaker, Elder Willie McLeod. His topic was “Is the price too much to pay to serve the Lord?” The subtopic was “Are you willing to go through?”

Elder Willie McLeod gave the benediction.

Raleigh/Dunn District Union

The Raleigh/Dunn Distinct Union convened March 31 at the Conference “A” Headquarters, Erwin. Host pastors were Dr. Stanley Williams of Spring Hill Baptist Church and Elder James Baker, pastor of McKoy’s Chapel FWB Church, Coats. Dr. Williams presided over the Sunday service. Invocation was given by Dr. Williams. Choral response was given by McKoy’s Chapel and Spring Hill.

Minister Sandra Autry gave the affirmation of faith. Scripture was read by Minister Eleanor Williams and prayer was led by Elder Larry Melvin.

Inspirational selections were by McKoy’s Chapel and Spring Hill churches. Linda Sturdivant welcomed everyone and Patricia Underwood read the announcements.

Dunn District Elder Kerby Haire introduced the speaker, Dr. Alexander McArthur. The topic was “Shall these bones live?” The subtopic was “Valley of dry bones.”

The district and host pastors gave expressions.
