Cape Fear ‘A’ Conference Youth, Raleigh District Union convene

The Cape Fear “A” Conference Youth Ministry convened Dec. 27. The call to worship and emcee for the evening was Little Miss Cherish McDonald. The youth processional was by the musicians and choir.

The opening selection was by the CFA Conference Youth Choir. Simone Bell read scripture and Cameron James led in prayer. Nasir Walden welcomed everyone.

The celebration was titled “Today’s Youth Giving Praise.” An illustrated sermon was given by Pastors David and Katrina McKethan. It was titled “The Decision: Heaven, Hell or Eternity?” The sermon focused on bullying.

Announcements were made by the union secretary and remarks were offered by chairmen Elizabeth King, Pamela Haire and Bishop J.E. McDowell. The food was blessed by Deacon Jerry Baker. Cherish McDonald gave the benediction.

Raleigh District Union news

The Raleigh District Union convened at the host church, Coats Chapel Church, on Dec. 28. Eldress Mary Spence gave the call to worship. Music was rendered by Willow Spring FWB Choir. Eldress Johnnie Mae Chance read scripture. Dr. Morris Godwin led in prayer.

Spence introduced the speaker, Elder Fred McNeill. The topic was “God Ain’t In Your Mess.” The business session and seating of the cabinet was led by Elder Fred McNeill and Spence. District Elder James Baker presided over the Bishop’s Moment. Linda Holiday read the minutes.

Elder Arthur McAllister presided over the Union Worker Club. Mother Marie Jones presided over the Mother Board. Eldress Sylvia Hicks gave the necrology and McNeill gave remarks.

The Dunn and Raleigh District Unions convened at Cape Fear “A” Conference Headquarters on Dec. 29. This was the last union of the year.

The service began with Sunday school. Antioch FWB Church was in charge of the service. The lesson was taught by Deacon Tyrus Jackson.

Elder Robert Gregory gave the call to worship and he also gave the invocation. Choral response was by Antioch and Coats Chapel FWB churches. Deacon Tyrus Jackson gave the affirmation of faith. Veronica Brewington read scripture and Deacon Felix Blue led in prayer. Mother Josephine Walden welcomed everyone. Pastor Laeulia Lisane gave the announcements. Remarks were made by Dr. Thomas Washington Jr., assistant to the bishop.

Dr. Linda McAllister introduced the speaker. Music was rendered by Antioch and Coats Chapel choirs. The sermon was by District Elder James Baker. The topic was “As Is” (Matthew 21:1). Expressions were given by district elders and host pastors.
