With the 2018 football season just days away, Campbell hosted its annual Fan Fest Saturday at Barker-Lane Stadium.
The event featured a short, non-padded open practice, followed by autographs and photos with the team and coaching staff on the field.
The Camels enter their second decade following their second winning campaign, matching school records for overall (six) and conference victories (five) in 2017. Offensively, Campbell also set school records for passing touchdowns (21) and passing yards per game (207.8) a year ago, while hitting the 50 touchdown mark for the second time in the program’s 10 seasons. The Fighting Camel defense further established itself in 2017, ranking among the nation’s leaders (10th) in takeaways (27), aided by a school record 19 interceptions.
Campbell enters its first season as a member of the Big South Conference on the football field in 2018.
The Camels return 44 letter winners, including 18 starters (eight offense, seven defense, three special teams), from their 2017 squad.
Campbell kicks off its 2018 schedule on Thursday hosting Chowan at Barker-Lane Stadium. The Camels open Big South play Oct. 20 at Monmouth.
