Anderson Creek Academy students get a taste of the arts

Fayetteville Symphony Orchestra quintet performs

Anderson Creek Academy students were treated to a holiday performance by members of the Fayetteville Symphony Orchestra last month. Students enjoyed holiday music from around the world and learning about music vocabulary.

Monica Thiriot from the Fayetteville Symphony Orchestra performed with the quintet which consisted of members Randolyn Emerson, Laurel Wachtler, Barbara Gates and Darrin Thiriot. Ms. Emerson was the contact to arrange the educational art performance to enhance the arts curriculum at the school.

Students were able to participate in the performance using instruments and also serve as the music conductor for one of the songs. Symphony members were surprised and delighted when the ACA Scholars joined in on the Spanish songs and were well versed in the language.

Anderson Creek Academy is a public charter school located on Ray Road in Spring Lake. Lottery for the school will open in January for submissions. You can visit the website at for more details.
